The Monomyth

For those particularly interested in narrative there is a theory proposed by Joseph Campbell which suggests that all stories follow essentially the same structure.
This further suggests that there is one single structure that we understand and recognize - making us very adept at filling it the gaps if a narrative is presented incomplete.
The diagram to the left spells out the stages that make up this narrative form, and should - confusingly - be read anticlockwise.
Try applying it to whatever TV drama or film you happen to be watching.
